Cups of
Cold Water...

Serving Dominican and Haitian Families
Can a small group of friends with a minimal
amount of money really impact a nation?
"Cups of cold water... given in Jesus name... are not given in vain."
Clean Water Projects: 80% of the medical problems in the third world are caused by unclean water. So it does not take rocket science to know that if we clean the water, we can stop 80% of the health problems. This means that we can free 80% of the medical clinics resources to take on greater challenges. A simple $40 filter system will provide clean water for a family for eight to ten years. It is not enough to dig a well when the water in that well is already contaminated. We must purify the water! Each year we focus on one community and attempt to provide each and every family with a clean water machine. The local medical clinics always report improved community health within weeks of our purifiers being in place. (In 2011 with your help we were able to provide clean water for over one-hundred and fifty families.)

Haitian Children’s Program: The undocumented Haitian children are not allowed to attend a public school. They will live and die in poverty and squalor unless we intervene. This program feeds the children each day with a nutritious meal and teaches them their native language. This training prepares them to live in the Dominican Republic or their homeland of Haiti when the day comes they will be forced to return. There is a slow but sure ethnic cleansing going on in the Dominican Republic. (In 2011 with your help we were able to provide the property for the children's program in Redemption Village. The feeding program is now housed there.)

Abstinence Education & Pregnancy Resources: A program that is reaching young girls and boys with the message of abstinence. An emphasis is placed on STD education. Currently 60% of the children who come into one of the local clinics is HIV positive. We must do something to stop the spread of this disease. We also provide parenting classes and post abortion recovery counseling. Our work is in conjunction with a local medical clinic and access to the public schools. We also show abstinence based videos in various communities through our remote video truck. (This is a new project of 2012)

Remote Village Outreach: With a fully equipped video projector truck our team arrives in a remote village. Soon as the sun goes down the large movie screen comes to life with a movie in the Spanish language. Then our team shares the good news of Jesus with the community. Follow up is provided for those who respond. We will also show abstinence education programs in the spanish language. In a little village that has no electricity you can only imagine what kind of crowd we can draw. (In 2011 with your help the truck has been purchased and the rigging has been built.)

Salvation Shoes: American Churches, small groups, and individuals collect shoes to be distributed to the poor. Each set of shoes is given with a Spanish Bible or Gospel of John and delivered by a local Pastor or mission team. The shoes are brought to the DR through visiting teams and shipped in through Agape Flights International. (In 2011 we were able to share over 15 suitcases with shoes with the poor communities and Bible School participants.)

Church Development:
Sometimes it is building a church, sometimes it is funding the rent for church start up. Either way, a new church gets born. We are currently looking for a sponsor (3200.00 yearly rent) for a church in the poorest area of Santo Domingo. We are also in the beginnings of church construction (10,000 building) for a Haitian Church in Cherimicos.

House Construction: There are times when we meet people who are in great need of housing and we feel that we must step in and help their situation. Some of these people are living out in the elements as they try and build a house on their own. The cost for these builds ranges from four to eight thousand dollars. We build them with the help of a sponsoring church and local workers. (In 2011 with your help and that of a construction team from Destin, Florida and Roanoke, Va we purchased the property and built an amazing house for a Haitian Pastor and his 8 children.)

Bible College: For a minimal start up cost we can prepare a church to also house a weekly Bible College. The material we use comes from ThirdMill.org and a number of other sources. With this material in Spanish and on video we can provide quality theological education for many local Pastors and the leaders in their church. Currently as many as 60 Pastors a week attend our programs. (In 2011 with your help we were able to supply the materials needed to start a new Bible College.)

Mission Trips: You are invited to come and serve on any one of the above projects. Or we can help you create your own mission experience. Please contact the office for a low cost way to do missions. We would love to have you come. Give us a call. (In 2011 we hosted a number of mission teams and assisted with others in our area.)
